My personal message:
<Update 5/09/09> Thanks to everyone who's been so generous so far. Will happily take donations after the event as well! Training's been going well. Did 9.5 miles on Tuesday and have been scaling back the runs to build up reserves for Sunday! I start in the first wave at 9:30am. I'm hoping to get around in less than 1hr 45 mins, but we'll see! If you're in the city to watch, keep an eye out for my fellow trustees cheering on myself and Elaine (who's also running for the charity)! Hope they should be easy to spot - they'll all be dressed in Ethiopian Garb!
I'm running the Bristol Half Marathon for For-Ethiopia.
For-Ethiopia is a Bristol based charity which raises funds for water, health and education projects in rural Ethiopia. These projects are run by our sister charity which is actually based in Ethiopia, "For-Ethiopia Association". A key aim of this charity is to operate according to sustainable development principles. We ask the communities what they need and invite them to participate with us from the start of a project. We look to source local labour and materials for projects. Our sister organisation is an Ethiopian Non-Governmental Organisation, based in Ethiopia, employing local Ethiopians. As a trustee of this charity, I've seen how a little bit of money can make a huge difference to people and communities in Ethiopia. Even a small sum, goes a long way in Ethiopia.
