Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital Kidney Kids appeal gets Help
Newly-launched online fundraising specialist, help.co.uk joins forces with the world famous Birmingham Children’s Hospital, in an effort to secure the Hospitals fundraising target of £1.5 million.
The much needed £1.5 million will enable the hospital to relocate the specialist Renal Unit from its current location in an old 1960’s building, to a modern, light purpose-built facility suitable enough for looking after the 1,500 children and young people who visit the Renal Unit each year.
With the support of help.co.uk, the hospital is hoping people from across the country will get involved by either registering fundraising events on help.co.uk, or by making donations directly through the site.
“A spokesperson for Birmingham Children’s Hospital stated: “Being in hospital can be a difficult, bewildering and often scary experience for anyone – and particularly for children. We believe that we should make it as comfortable and relaxing as possible and are working to create the very best healing environment for children.”
Although nothing new, online fundraising sites are becoming an important resource for charities to help raise much needed funds, as well and enabling organisations to help their supporters in fundraising activities. Help.co.uk, currently works with a number of registered charities providing an additional channel for donations.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital opened in 1862, providing a wide range of paediatric services for children and young people. Since then it has been delivering first class medical treatment and leading the way in child health. It was the first to fit a pacemaker into a three-day-old baby, and the first to separate conjoined twins. Now, Birmingham Children’s Hospital is looking to the future, and with support from the public will be able to transform the present city-centre site into one of the most powerful and iconic developments in Europe.
